Google and Privacy

The privacy of Internet users is a major concern for Google, which is why the giant has announced that its search engine to provide secure search users logged into your Google account . Any registered user to access Google.com will be redirected to the secure version https://www.google.com.

What looks like a interesting security measure is placing a big disappointment for SEO professionals, webmasters and web analytics but, what is that?

However, searches involve using secure SSL encryption is in queries made by users in the search. This means that search terms used by users are not visible in the eyes of any web analytics tool, such as Google Analytics.

That's the big deal, anyone who wants to know the keywords used by users to reach a single site will have a part of the consultations, that part about users who use the Google search without registering. However, the visits will be attributed to organic search, only instead of the keyword will be displayed "not provided".

Google believes that this change will affect only a small part of the visits received, though not entirely clear what proportion of traffic will be affected. Google + Social networking is gaining a very large steps, which means that more users will end up using the browser logged into their accounts.

For the amount of traffic affected will have to use Google Analytics (or any other web analytics program) to collect data and to estimate the number of visitors "not provided" received. Based on this data may be established to what extent affected the data collected by the analysis tool.

On the other hand, search queries will still be available on the lists provided by Google Webmaster Tools, which provide queries that brought traffic in the last month.
